The 4162 powered YMII features a new method of functionality with an entirely new dial design, offering increased legibility. With this, the 4162 eliminates the retrograde feature of the previous iterations, opting for a central hand with standard 360 degree rotation. While this leads to a cleaner dial layout, it may be a disappointment to some to forgo the retrograde functionality that is rare for Rolex watches. The new model also eliminates the overly-complicated Ring Command bezel system that accompanied the cal. 4161. The bezel in the 4162 models is a standard bidirectional rotating bezel. Both movements still feature a 10 countdown chronograph timer. Frankly, this watch should have been called the Yacht-Master III. It is different enough from the other Yacht-Master II models that it will likely create confusion. It also would have been nice if they introduced some new colorways as a “YMIII” line to distinguish it from the previous models. The bezel is no longer Ring Command style.
