Rolex Caliber 4130
Rolex · Automatic
The Rolex caliber 4130 is an in-house automatic column-wheel chronograph movement. It is a true no-date with only one crown position for time-setting mode. The 4130 is completely designed and manufactured by the Crown themselves. Find this technological beauty in the Daytona. Previously, the Daytona used chronograph movements manufactured by Zenith. Presumably, the move towards the 4130 was due to the race to become 100% in-house – and possibly issues with servicing the Zenith-made 4030 caliber (for example: less parts). In the brand’s own words: “This model has a new-generation self-winding chronograph movement – calibre 4130 – specially designed for the Cosmograph Daytona and entirely manufactured in-house. A masterpiece of engineering and micromechanics, replete with innovative and patented technical solutions, this high-performance movement has set a new standard for luxury self-winding chronographs in terms of robustness, reliability, efficiency and precision, as well as for ease of maintenance.” “This model has a new-generation self-winding chronograph movement – calibre 4130 – specially designed for the Cosmograph Daytona and entirely manufactured in-house. Rolex introduced the cal. 4130 in the year 2000. in 2023, the 4130 was been replaced by the 4131. Both calibres share similar specs such as the column-wheel and vertical clutch, Parachrom Blue hairspring, and 72 hour runtime. In comparison, the 4130 (with fewer parts) was upgraded with proprietary components and technology, including the Chronergy escapement, Paraflex anti-shock, and optimizations made to the winding system (Perpetual rotor).
